OUR STORY

RIXIR Systems is a signage manufacturing company in the Pacific Northwest.

HOW IT BEGAN

As a young child, Vance Wells, the founder of RIXIR Systems, was often out in the woods building a treehouse or fixing up old cars with his father. This love for creating and crafting turned into machining and computer-aided design during his high school years, which then led to a job in the construction and plumbing industry once he graduated. Though this career served him well, Vance's entrepreneurial spirit wanted to create and build new things. In 2012, he purchased a CNC router machine, and soon after RIXIR was established.

The early days consisted of building anything that came Vance's way, including cabinets, lockers, pump containment enclosures, wood and plastic products, and MDF molds for vacuum-formed plastic parts. He also fabricated custom equipment nameplates and valve tags for electrical and mechanical firms, as well as OSHA signs and vehicle decals that were requested by his customers. Printing equipment was purchased shortly after to keep manufacturing in-house, and the ADA/Braille panel signage industry was discovered through an attempt to expand the product offering. The necessary software and equipment were acquired, and providing signage for new construction projects became the primary focus of the business.

2014 AND BEYOND

After securing contracts for a few projects, Vance and his wife, Verdalee, decided to dedicate themselves fully to the business. They hired on skilled craftsmen and women, and the company grew not only in the number of products offered but also in experience and the ability to handle larger and more complex projects. Electric signs were previously outsourced, but to control quality, lead times, and cost, RIXIR became a certified UL® electric sign manufacturer. Eventually, their home workshop was operating at capacity. A suitable building couldn’t be found that fit the needs of the business; therefore, it was decided to purchase land in an industrial park in the city of Battle Ground, WA. A new facility was designed and constructed from the ground up, and a new era of RIXIR began. With this expansion, RIXIR became capable of projects undreamed of previously and secured some of the most substantial signage contracts in the area.
